Real Bride Stories

White has certainly become the quintessential hue associated with all things bridal. And don’t get us wrong, we totally approve of the light and bright shade. But every now and then a shimmer of something colorful comes along and reminds us how much we love a little mix of rainbow in a sea of white. Take a look at some of today’s most popular and stylish ways to blend a colorful tint into your bridal style.

Dress Details

Assuming you’ve chosen a classically white dress for your big day, there are a few key ways to create your look with a touch or two of color. For winter brides, adding this glitter cape in rose gold—style 11291—for pictures or part of your reception gives your gown a romantic blush infusion. If you’re wearing a sophisticated and understated dress like the Rachel ballgown, add a belted sash in a bright red, glimmering gold, or emerald green shade to add a brilliant pop. And then there’s the Marilyn gown, which blends a detailed lace bodice into a blush-toned flowy skirt of organza, for a romantic swirl of color.

Jewels & Gems

Colorful stones add a sparkly splash of fun to any white wedding look. Depending on your budget, costume or real jewelry will both work. From a set of long dangling ruby earrings for a rich rosy tone to a bold sapphire matching necklace and bracelet, colored baubles really stand out against an ivory gown. Even an opal with its creamy white foundation has plenty of pastel reflection that glimmers from near and far. Rose gold jewelry is seeing a definite surge in popularity these days with the pretty pinkish copper tones.  We also love the vibrant energy of a baby blue aquamarine pendant and the daintiness you get from a soft violet amethyst.

Heel Hues

A girl can never have too many shoes, or at least that’s our story and we’re sticking to it! So why not have some fun with your wedding day shoes, by picking a radiant shade to spice things up a bit. Worn with a traditionally long dress, a vivid shade of red, pink, blue, or green won’t be seen at all times, but makes for an exciting surprise once your gown is bustled for the reception and while you’re taking photos. If you’ve gone down the colorful jewelry route as well, match your gems to your pumps, so your look is color-coordinated!

Locks of Color

Pick from flowers or ribbons for a whimsical way to incorporate color into whatever hairstyle you’re going for. If you’ll be rocking long beach waves, pin a soft pink peony in a loosely swept side part. For more of a statement look, a deep navy or lush purple satin ribbon can be entwined into a chic bun, braid, or to adorn a half-updo’. We’re always dreaming of a flower crown, and we say the more color the better! Lilacs, daisies, hibiscus, and greenery come together for an ethereally perfect combo.
