Real Bride Stories

Spring is a time for new beginnings, so it’s no surprise that so many brides choose to have a spring wedding to start this new chapter of their life. Temperate weather, beautiful blooming flowers, and a bright and airy feeling make a spring wedding so special. And you need unique spring wedding dresses to fit the season perfectly. We’re sharing the best silhouettes, necklines, the cutest back details, and our favorite plus size spring wedding dresses with these unique outdoor and spring wedding dress ideas for 2024.

What Kind of Wedding Dress Should a Bride Wear in the Spring?

If you’re planning a spring wedding, you might be wondering what kind of wedding dress should you wear, but we have the perfect wedding dress inspiration for a springtime wedding! We always recommend picking a style that makes you feel beautiful both inside and out, but we have some favorite features for spring wedding gowns that you can take some inspiration from. We love the look of fresh and feminine spring wedding dresses. Think of floral details like three-dimensional flowers or delicate botanical embroidery, embracing the beauty that a blooming spring wedding brings. Pick fabrics that feel light and airy, like chiffon or tulle. These effortless fabrics have a floaty quality to them that we think perfectly suits spring! The silhouette is totally up to you! An A-line silhouette is ultra-flattering and easy to wear, making it a great option for a spring wedding, but we also love the look of a flirty fit and flare or a bold ball gown for a classic garden wedding.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Spring Wedding Dress Ideas

Spring is a great time for both indoor and outdoor weddings. Depending on your vision, one might suit you better than the other. Regardless, we’ll make sure you have plenty of wedding dress ideas for spring. An indoor spring wedding can often feel like a luxe affair. We love the idea of a classic ballroom with beautiful big windows to let the spring sunshine in. A museum or enclosed botanical garden also make fantastic indoor spring wedding venues. An indoor spring wedding allows for more versatility in choosing your bridal gown style since you don’t have to worry about the weather. Julia, style 2522 would make a stunning indoor spring wedding dress! The ball gown offers a unique look with a fitted bodice and drop waistline, elongating your torso. Pearl and crystal beading pop on the floral embroidered lace bodice, while the slightly heavier fabric of the satin skirt provides a beautiful contrast. Outdoor spring weddings are a great time to embrace billowing silhouettes and airy styles. With the possibility of “May showers” it might be best to plan your outdoor spring wedding in April to ensure you have the perfect weather. A couple of our favorite April wedding dresses for an outdoor spring wedding would be Joaquina, style 2503 and Juniper, style 15005. Joaquina is all about effortless romance with a sheer corset bodice adorned in floral frosted embroidered lace with a billowing tulle skirt that will float down the aisle. Juniper is a more whimsical spring wedding dress with a unique twist-knot, draped bodice, and botanical-inspired frosted embroidered lace that cascades down the flowing tulle A-line.

Unique Spring Wedding Dress Styles & Silhouettes

There are so many gorgeous styles and silhouettes that you can choose from for a spring wedding dress. We love the dreamy look of an airy A-line and, in our opinion, spring calls for some whimsical touches, but the possibilities are truly endless! Personal preference should always be taken into consideration, but if you’re looking for some guidance these are some of our favorite looks for spring wedding dresses 2024. If you’re having an outdoor spring wedding, a strikingly simplistic modern ball gown is a beautiful contradiction to the blooming flowers and lush green grasses. Jude, style 2524 is the epitome of modern minimalist princess, with the trendy touch of illusion cut-outs that makes us swoon. Billowing boho styles are a must for spring! Jeanette, style 2523 is a bohemian dream with botanical-inspired frosted embroidered lace on an effortless A-line silhouette. The puffed bishop sleeve scream spring with their elegant and ethereal feel. Floral motifs are an absolute must for a spring wedding, so a dress like Forsythia, style 2472 is an easy pick. The boned, sweetheart bodice blooms with decadent three-dimensional floral embroidered appliqués, accented by brilliant crystal beading. The sparkle tulle skirt floats off the body, embodying the dreamy essence of spring!

Spring Wedding Dress with Sleeves

Sleeves are an elegant choice to pair with your spring wedding dress. Perfect for keeping you warm during the cooler early spring or adding a whimsical effect for the brides who are looking for a fairytale spring wedding dress. Many wedding dresses now come with detachable sleeves, making them the perfect choice for our brides who want both a long sleeve and sleeveless look! One of our top picks for a spring wedding dress with sleeves is Jeannie, style 2513. This wedding dress is soft and dreamy with a sultry twist, featuring romantic Chantilly lace with delicate embroidered lace appliqués. The sultry fit and flare hugs your curves and the illusion low back is absolutely breathtaking. Our favorite part is the detachable bishop long sleeves that add an enchanted feeling to the dress. Another fabulous long sleeve spring wedding dress is Josephine, style 2518. This springtime fantasy is a soft A-line in floral Chantilly lace with delicately beaded lace appliqués cascading down a bodice with sheer lace sides. The detachable bishop sleeves create a fairytale feel to this perfect early spring wedding dress.

Plus Size Spring Wedding Dress Inspiration

If you’re a curvy bride who is looking for the perfect plus size spring wedding dress, we’ve got you covered! These effortless styles are ultra-flattering, with details that complement the springtime vibes. Hayden, style 3371 is soft and romantic with a classic sweetheart neckline on a supportive boned bodice. Intricate frosted embroidered lace appliqués decorate the light as air tulle dress, keeping things fresh and feminine for a springtime wedding. If your style leans a little more boho, there’s Hadley, style 3375. The billowing A-line has botanical-inspired crystal beaded embroidered lace appliqués cascading down from the sheer v-neck bodice. The double waistband detail cinches in your figure. And the best part, the keyhole back!

Casual Spring Wedding Dresses

While some spring brides might be all about the glamour, we know we have brides who want to keep things simple with a casual spring wedding dress. Perfect for backyard weddings or more small, intimate affairs, a casual spring wedding dress has an effortless feel that totally embraces the essence of spring. Devon, style 6966 is a stunning spring wedding dress with a casual feel. The feminine A-line has a high neck illusion bodice accented by delicately beaded, floral embroidered lace. The double-banded waist defined your figure on the airy gown, and in soft net, it has a relaxed feel. We could totally see Devon working as a rustic spring wedding dress. If rustic isn’t your vibe, Josette, style 4101 takes an elevated approach to a casual spring wedding dress. The simplistic fit and flare is designed in soft net, perfect for creating the chic and effortless drape that created beautiful lines and enhances your figure. The wide v-neckline and cap sleeves are a classic touch, while the fly-away front drape is an easy way to add some drama.

Elegant Spring Wedding Dresses

Spring may be a time of newness, but sometimes it’s best to keep things timeless with an elegant spring wedding dress. These styles are elevated, with decadent details and classic silhouettes, and totally embrace the beauty of spring. Our Jenny designer wedding dress, style 2516 is an ethereal beauty with delicate crystal beaded, floral lace appliqués decorating the romantic A-line. The illusion fabric allows for a sultry plunge to the sweetheart bodice adding a trendy twist to the feminine gown. If you want an elegant spring wedding dress that will make an impact, look no further than Fleurette, style 2487. This grand ball gown is all about the drama with crystal beaded, three-dimensional embroidery cascading down the sequin tulle dress. You can keep it classic with the strapless neckline or more traditional with the detachable long sleeves.

Picking the Right Wedding Dress Fabric for a Spring Wedding

With the more mild climate of spring, most any fabric will work for the season. If you’re getting married in early spring, and there’s still a bit of a chill in the air, you may want a heavier fabric like crepe, mikado, or brocade. For us, we love the look of billowing, airy fabric like tulle and organza with romantic touches of lace. Tulle is one of the most popular bridal fabrics with an open weave, for a sheer gauzy look. The lightweight fabric is great for layering, ruching, and ruffling making it versatile and easy to wear! It can also be used to create billowing bishop sleeves, delicate draped sleeves, and the trendy puff sleeve for a stunning spring wedding dress with sleeves. Lace is the quintessential bridal fabric and one that is a must-have for many brides. Most often used for overlays and appliqués, lace comes in various motifs—like flowers, leafy patterns, and botanical designs—that make it perfect for spring.

The Perfect Neckline Style for a Spring Wedding Dress

The neckline of your gown is a detail you should consider when wedding dress shopping. Are you looking for something with more coverage or do you want to show it all off with a sexier style? We always say you should wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable, but these are our favorite neckline styles for a spring wedding dress! Corset bodices have been a popular style for the past couple of years and we don’t see this trend leaving anytime soon. The boning offers both support and structure and helps to add a couture feel to the dress. Corsets come in various styles with different necklines, but we love the one on Josie, style 2508 with a v-neckline. The wonderfully whimsical gown has a flowing A-line silhouette with delicate three-dimensional floral appliqués and a corset bodice with bustier-style cups and a wide v-neckline. If you’re looking for something a bit more modest, then meet our Harmony dress, style 30137. The chic fit and flare hugs the body with botanical-inspired beaded embroidered lace over romantic Chantilly lace. The neckline has a geometric look to it, making it cool and conservative, and a great option for spring wedding dresses for older brides. If you’re looking to make a sultry statement, then we say go for a plunging neckline. Fortunata, style 2467 perfectly blends the sexy style with a romantic spring feel. The breathtaking fit and flare features gorgeous floral lace appliqués with crystallized beading for an unreal sparkle. The neckline has a daring illusion plunge and matching illusion sides, great for showing off some skin as the season warms up!

Cute Spring Wedding Dress Back Details

As you walk down the aisle, you should make a statement not only from the front but also from the back! From delicate illusion details, cool cut-outs, sultry open backs, and breathtaking trains, these cute spring wedding dress back details will make your gown hard to forget. The most classic wedding dress detail is the train. Trains have existed since medieval times, symbolizing a sign of wealth, as the extra fabric on the back of the gown cost a pretty penny. The longer the train, the more money you had. While this concept doesn’t necessarily hold up today, wedding dress trains have become a tradition that brides love. With different lengths, shapes, and styles, trains can help show your unique personality at your spring wedding. Jamie, style 2519 is our dream spring wedding dress train! The gorgeous crepe gown is sleek and sexy with a stunning open back and illusion details. Our favorite part is the sheer, petal-shaped train that feels both fresh and feminine, perfect for spring! For our curvy brides, Harlow, style 3374 is our pick for a plus size spring wedding dress. The simplistically stylish gown stuns in sleek satin with a sculptural sweetheart neckline on an ultra-flattering A-line silhouette. The seams at the waist help to cinch in your figure, but the best part is the chic detachable bow that adds a bit of feminine charm.

Which Sleeve Style is Best for a Spring Wedding Dress?

If you’re looking for a spring wedding dress with sleeves, you might be wondering which style is best. We always stress that your personal preference and what you feel comfortable in takes priority, but we think that with the whimsical and fresh nature of the season you should have a sleeve style to match! If you’re looking to make more of a statement, try a billowing bishop sleeve or a leg of mutton sleeve—where you have a large pouf starting at the shoulder and ending somewhere around the elbow and a tight fit through the wrist. Dresses like Janet, style 4103 or Jordanna, style 2509. Janet is a romantic A-line with a beautiful crystal beaded, floral embroidered bodice and detachable pouf sleeves, banded at the elbow, for some added playfulness. Jordana is glamorous with an angular, strapless neckline with a plunging illusion detail on a drop waist fit and flare. The leg of mutton sleeves adds to the drama with an oversized pouf and delicate lace matching the beaded lace on the gown. If you want a spring sleeve style that feels more delicate, try off-the-shoulder cap sleeves. Jane, style 4110 feels fresh and feminine—perfect for spring—with lovely frosted embroidered floral lace appliqués on a soft fit and flare with a classic off-the-shoulder neckline and romantic sheer cap sleeves. One last sleeve style we had to mention was bow sleeves! A flowing sleeve in airy fabrics like net and tulle, tie-bow sleeves perfectly embody the feminine and whimsical feeling of spring. Joelle, style 15012 is a modern fairytale dress featuring a billowing ball gown silhouette in radiant satin. The romantic sweetheart neckline is enhanced with draped tulle accents that lead to tie-bow sleeves that float around you for that extra touch of whimsy.

What Kind of Wedding Dress Should I Wear to a Spring Beach Wedding?

Most people associate beach weddings with summer, but depending on where you are in the world beach weddings can happen year-round. In coastal states like California, Florida, or even the Carolinas spring may be the ideal season to have a beach wedding. With more moderate temperatures, a spring beach wedding, like during the month of May, can be more comfortable for you and your guests without the sweltering heat of summer. If you decide to have a spring beach wedding you might be wondering, what do you wear to a spring wedding on the beach? You can wear something similar to your typical summer beach wedding dresses, but even with the sand and surf, we say to embrace the essence of spring in May wedding dresses with blooming floral motifs, breezy silhouettes, and fabrics that are perfect for the environment. Jennifer, style 4102 is our dream spring beach wedding dress! The boho A-line floats off the body in airy tulle fabric featuring a beautiful bodice adorned in delicately beaded botanical embroidered lace with a sheer peek-a-boo inset. We love the scoop back with a low-back keyhole and lace-trimmed train for a touch of romance. Casual weddings are rising in popularity, so if you’re looking for casual beach wedding dresses then our pick is Jordan, style 15009. The relaxed A-line is effortless—in breezy chiffon and has a draped bodice, lined with beaded lace that flows into the sheer, open back, and a chic faux-wrap skirt for a perfect pop of leg. For our plus size brides, meet Hadley, style 3375 the perfect curvy spring beach wedding dress. This dreamy boho dress features gorgeous botanical, crystal beaded embroidered lace cascading from the sheer v-neck bodice down the soft tulle A-line. The double-banded waist cinches in your figure for an ultra-flattering look and we love the open keyhole back.

What is the Best Color to Wear for a Spring Wedding

Spring is associated with soft shades that remind us of the delicate and dreamy colors of nature coming alive again. Pretty pastels of newly blooming flowers—the light peaches, soft pinks, and baby blues you might think of for spring bridesmaid dresses work beautifully for colored wedding dresses too! Colored wedding dresses are a great way to show off your personality and reflect the look of your wedding. So if you’re all about embracing the beauty of spring consider trying colorful gowns! Blue hues are totally trending, so if you’re looking to make a splash in this color, then check out Joanie, style 4111. This modern meets classic gown stuns in sleek satin with a chic cuffed neckline on a surplice bodice with cap sleeves for a geometric look. The seams at the waist cinch in your figure and enhance the flare of the pleated skirt, and in our misty blue shade, this dress makes us swoon. Our Josefina wedding dress, style 4119 gives you over-the-top romance in our gorgeous bellini color, a soft peachy pink that screams spring. The beautiful ball gown features a delicately draped bodice with a sweetheart neckline. The ruffled tulle skirt creates fabulous texture, with a subtle, swirling floral motif and a detachable tie-back stole for added feminine charm.

When Should You Buy a Spring Wedding Dress

If you’re planning a spring wedding you might be thinking about when to buy your wedding dress. Is there such a thing as buying it too early or too late? There’s no such thing as buying your spring wedding dress too early. We always recommend getting your gown one year to nine months in advance. All our gowns are made to order for each of our brides, so this allows us to create a bespoke wedding dress for you. This timeline always offers you ample time to get your dress altered to perfectly fit you and work with an experienced bridal seamstress for any customizations you may want. Ordering your dress early means you’ll be able to get all this done without any stress, though it may have to sit in your closet a little longer. If you’ve waited and waited, and realized now that you’re a few months out from your big day that you don’t have your dress yet, don’t panic. We offer quick ship gowns that can get to you in a flash, so you look and feel stunning at your spring wedding. If you’re looking for dresses designed specifically with spring in mind, then you’ll want to check out our spring collections. Each year we release a new spring collection of gowns for our brides. Despite the name, we don’t launch these dresses in the spring. You can usually find our spring collection available starting late fall, sometime between October and November. This allows our brides to have the newest gowns ready by the time their spring wedding rolls around. We recently launched our Spring 2023 Empire collection!
