Spring is a time for new beginnings, so it’s no surprise that so many brides choose to have a spring wedding to start this new chapter of their life. Temperate weather, beautiful blooming flowers, and a bright and airy feeling make a spring wedding so special. And you need unique spring wedding dresses to fit the season perfectly. We’re sharing the best silhouettes, necklines, the cutest back details, and our favorite plus size spring wedding dresses with these unique outdoor and spring wedding dress ideas for 2024.

What Kind of Wedding Dress Should a Bride Wear in the Spring?

If you’re planning a spring wedding, you might be wondering what kind of wedding dress should you wear, but we have the perfect wedding dress inspiration for a springtime wedding! We always recommend picking a style that makes you feel beautiful both inside and out, but we have some favorite features for spring wedding gowns that you can take some inspiration from. We love the look of fresh and feminine spring wedding dresses. Think of floral details like three-dimensional flowers or delicate botanical embroidery, embracing the beauty that a blooming spring wedding brings. Pick fabrics that feel light and airy, like chiffon or tulle. These effortless fabrics have a floaty quality to them that we think perfectly suit spring! The silhouette is totally up to you. An A-line silhouette is ultra-flattering and easy to wear, making it a great option for a spring wedding, but we also love the look of a flirty fit and flare or a bold ball gown for a classic garden wedding.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Spring Wedding Dress Ideas

Spring is a great time for both indoor and outdoor weddings. Depending on your vision, one might suit you better than the other. Regardless, we’ll make sure you have plenty of wedding dress ideas for spring. An indoor spring wedding can often feel like a luxe affair. We love the idea of a classic ballroom with beautiful big windows to let the spring sunshine in. A museum or enclosed botanical garden also make fantastic indoor spring wedding venues. An indoor spring wedding allows for more versatility in choosing your bridal gown style since you don’t have to worry about the weather. Our Padma Wedding Dress would make a stunning indoor spring gown! The gorgeous fit and flare features a sheer boned bodice designed with three-dimensional floral lace appliqués. The stretch crepe skirt provides a striking contrast from the romantic petals and glides over your curves. We also love how the cut-away lace train matches the floral theme. Outdoor spring weddings are a great time to embrace billowing silhouettes and airy styles. With the possibility of “May showers” it might be best to plan your outdoor spring wedding in April to ensure you have the perfect weather. A couple of our favorite April wedding dresses for an outdoor spring wedding would be our Priya Wedding Dress and our Phillipa Wedding Dress. Phillipa is all about effortless romance  featuring botanical frosted, embroidered appliqués accented by delicate beading. The illusion bodice has a seductive plunge that guides the eye down the relaxed A-line silhouette, while the open back reveals the perfect amount of skin. Priya is for our fairytale brides with plunging sweetheart bodice features sheer ruching over couture boning with stunning crystal beaded, three-dimensional floral lace appliqués. Soft tulle floats off the body for an effortless and ethereal look with matching detachable long sleeves to add to the fantasy.

Picking the Right Wedding Dress Fabric for a Spring Wedding

With the more mild climate of spring, most any fabric will work for the season. If you’re getting married in early spring, and there’s still a bit of a chill in the air, you may want a heavier fabric like crepe, mikado, or brocade. For us, we love the look of billowing, airy fabric like tulle and organza with romantic touches of lace. Tulle is one of the most popular bridal fabrics with an open weave, for a sheer gauzy look. The lightweight fabric is great for layering, ruching, and ruffling making it versatile and easy to wear! It can also be used to create billowing bishop sleeves, delicate draped sleeves, and the trendy puff sleeve for a stunning spring wedding dress with sleeves. Lace is the quintessential bridal fabric and one that is a must-have for many brides. Most often used for overlays and appliqués, lace comes in various motifs—like flowers, leafy patterns, and botanical designs—that make it perfect for spring.

The Perfect Neckline Style for a Spring Wedding Dress

The neckline of your gown is a detail you should consider when wedding dress shopping. Are you looking for something with more coverage or do you want to show it all off with a sexier style? We always say you should wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable, but these are our favorite neckline styles for a spring wedding dress! Corset bodices have been a popular style for the past couple of years and we don’t see this trend leaving anytime soon. The boning offers both support and structure and helps to add a couture feel to the dress. Corset wedding dresses come in various styles with different necklines, but we love the one on our Paige Wedding Dress! The feminine fit and flare features a sheer corset bodice with a romantic sweetheart neckline. Frosted, three-dimensional embroidery decorates the gown for a beautiful botanical look, creating scalloped edging for subtle textural detail. Cute Spring Wedding Dress Back Details

As you walk down the aisle, you should make a statement not only from the front but also from the back! From delicate illusion details, cool cut-outs, sultry open backs, and breathtaking trains, these cute spring wedding dress back details will make your gown hard to forget. The most classic wedding dress detail is the train. Trains have existed since medieval times, symbolizing a sign of wealth, as the extra fabric on the back of the gown cost a pretty penny. The longer the train, the more money you had. While this concept doesn’t necessarily hold up today, wedding dress trains have become a tradition that brides love. With different lengths, shapes, and styles, trains can help show your unique personality at your spring wedding. Our Paula Wedding Dress has our dream spring wedding dress train! The fit and flare has a romantic look in allover Chantilly lace with delicately beaded lace appliqués. The corset bodice has a strapless sweetheart neckline and illusion back detail that reveals the couture boning. Our favorite part is the sheer, petal-shaped train that shows off the lovely floral motif in the lace, perfect for spring! For our curvy brides, our Nicosia Wedding Dress is our pick for a plus size spring gown with a beautiful back. The soft mermaid features gorgeous crystal beaded embroidered lace appliqués on a Chantilly lace bodice with a drop waist to elongate your frame. The v-shaped neckline is complimented by the breathtaking open v-shaped back which leads to the sparkle tulle train accented by delicate lace.

Which Sleeve Style is Best for a Spring Wedding Dress?

If you’re looking for a spring wedding dress with sleeves, you might be wondering which style is best. We always stress that your personal preference, and what you feel comfortable in, takes priority, but we think that with the whimsical and fresh nature of the season you should have a sleeve style to match! If you’re looking to make more of a statement, try a billowing bishop sleeve. Our Melody Wedding Dress is a floral patterned fantasy! The sheer corset bodice features couture boning with a dainty tie-bow to define your waist, enhancing the A-line silhouette. The billowing tulle skirt stuns with its floral detailing and we’re obsessed with the whimsical look of the banded bishop sleeves. No sleeve style is as dreamy as an off-the-shoulder sleeve, and we think this style perfectly suits a spring wedding dress. Our Petunia Wedding Dress is our top pick. The enchanting A-line has a sweetheart bodice designed with botanical pearl and crystal beading. Three-dimensional floral appliqués accent the bodice and cover the entirety of the lovely off-the-shoulder sleeves, making them pop for a true garden goddess look. One last sleeve style we had to mention was bow sleeves! A flowing sleeve in airy fabrics like net and tulle, tie-bow sleeves perfectly embody the feminine and whimsical feeling of spring and embrace the trending look of bows on everything. Our Maeve Wedding Dress is a modern fairytale gown featuring an effortless A-line silhouette silhouette in sparkling glitter tulle. The sweetheart bodice is adorned in crystal beaded, floral lace appliqués that cascade down the wrap-style skirt with a front slit. Our favorite part are the tie straps done up in a dainty bow that completes the spring fantasy.

What Kind of Wedding Dress Should I Wear to a Spring Beach Wedding?

Most people associate beach weddings with summer, but depending on where you are in the world beach weddings can happen year-round. In coastal states like California, Florida, or even the Carolinas spring may be the ideal season to have a beach wedding. With more moderate temperatures, a spring beach wedding, like during the month of May, can be more comfortable for you and your guests without the sweltering heat of summer. If you decide to have a spring beach wedding you might be wondering, what do you wear to a spring wedding on the beach? You can wear something similar to your typical summer beach wedding dresses, but even with the sand and surf, we say to embrace the essence of spring in May wedding dresses with blooming floral motifs, breezy silhouettes, and fabrics that are perfect for the environment. Our Parthena Wedding Dress is our dream spring beach wedding dress! The boho A-line floats off the body in airy tulle fabric featuring a corset bodice with a simple v-neckline. The three-dimensional floral embroidery pops, bringing that garden feel to the beach, with a front skirt slit for more movement in the sand. Casual weddings are rising in popularity, so if you’re looking for casual beach wedding dresses then our pick is our Pania Wedding Dress. The relaxed A-line is effortless—in breezy chiffon and has a draped bodice that creates stunning texture. The flowing skirt has a front slit that will have the dress flutter in the sea breeze and detachable bishop sleeves for that free-spirited feel. For our plus size brides, meet our Nadette Wedding Dress, the perfect curvy spring beach wedding dress. When Should You Buy a Spring Wedding Dress

If you’re planning a spring wedding you might be thinking about when to buy your wedding dress. Is there such a thing as buying it too early or too late? There’s no such thing as buying your spring wedding dress too early. We always recommend getting your gown one year to nine months in advance. All our gowns are made to order for each of our brides, so this allows us to create a bespoke wedding dress for you. This timeline always offers you ample time to get your dress altered to perfectly fit you and work with an experienced bridal seamstress for any customizations you may want. Ordering your dress early means you’ll be able to get all this done without any stress, though it may have to sit in your closet a little longer. If you’ve waited and waited, and realized now that you’re a few months out from your big day that you don’t have your dress yet, don’t panic. We offer quick ship gowns that can get to you in a flash, so you look and feel stunning at your spring wedding. If you’re looking for dresses designed specifically with spring in mind, then you’ll want to check out our spring collections. Each year we release a new spring collection of gowns for our brides. Despite the name, we don’t launch these dresses in the spring. You can usually find our spring collection available starting late fall, sometime between October and November. This allows our brides to have the newest gowns ready by the time their spring wedding rolls around.
