Real Bride Stories

Morilee Featured Bride: Mikayla

It may sound like something from a movie when two best friends date guys who are also best friends, but that’s what happened for Mikayla and Rob! They were introduced to each other when Mikayla’s best friend, and her boyfriend, brought her to visit Rob at his university. While it may not have been insta-love, like in all good romance movies, the two took their time, talking, growing closer, and building a strong bond before they finally started dating two years later.

The proposal was a whirlwind, to say the least, as Rob did it during a hurricane! During a break in the storm, Mikayla’s best friend—who had set them up in the first place—convinced her to go downtown and take some pictures. They got all dressed up and went to a beautiful botanical garden, and it was there that she saw Rob waiting for her, down on one knee prepared to propose. Mikayla had no other answer, but YES!

When Mikayla went to try on dresses, she was waiting for that moment. The moment she didn’t want to take the dress off, the moment she felt like a bride. When she put on our Rasia gown, she had that moment! Mikayla knew it was “the one” after she tried it on and compared it to every other dress she had tried on before. She even cried while wearing it. It was the perfect mix of simple elegance and beautiful lace and beading that she had been looking for! It was everything she could have asked for. She finally felt like a bride!

Mikayla stunned down the aisle in our Rasia dress, a sultry sheath with enchanting details. The figure-flattering crepe gown is accented by intricately designed frosted, embroidered appliqués and a sweet, cut-away lace, petal train. The real show stopper is exposed, low back, with sheer panels and blingy beaded trim. Her bridesmaids were also bright and airy in sky blue Morilee dresses! Mikayla had her girls mix and match in our flowing chiffon styles.

Due to Covid, Mikayla and Rob’s wedding looked a bit different than they had originally planned. The couple decided to postpone their reception, but what they did stick to was their traditional church ceremony. One of the most special moments to Mikayla was their vows. They were written by the pastor that married them, and she recalls how he made them so intimate and special! And though they didn’t have their reception, the couple did have a champagne toast after the ceremony. It was there that her guests briefly gathered to drink some bubbly, cut the cake, and that those closest to the couple gave their speeches.

Mikayla also recalls how much fun she had getting ready with her bridal party and how her now-husband snuck away to share a beer with his groomsmen right before the wedding! Overall, despite the changes in plan, Mikayla and Rob look back fondly on their wedding and only remember how truly special the day was!
