Real Bride Stories

There was no debating that Ashley and Hank were destined for each other! The two met in their high school debate class and spent the year getting to know each other; they began dating when Ashley was a junior and Hank was a senior. The high school sweethearts stood the test of time, getting engaged as part of Ashley’s 24th birthday celebration. In an intimate moment, Hank got down on one knee and proposed on the front lawn of their home with just Ashley’s sister present to capture it. Of course, she said yes! The couple continued their celebration at Ashley’s parent’s house reveling in the feeling of being newly engaged.

Ashley’s dress shopping experience was special, as her mother-in-law works at Fashion Corner, her local bridal salon. She sent her mother-in-law all her inspiration photos, who then went to work pulling dresses for Ashley. Cordelia was the first dress that she tried on and instantly knew it was the one! She says it was love at first sight. Every other dress she tried on after that couldn’t compare, and she always went back to Cordelia. It fit Ashely perfectly and made her truly feel like a beautiful bride.

Ashley walked down the aisle wearing our Cordelia wedding dress, a romantic ball gown with beautiful details. The allover embroidered gown feels fresh and feminine with a plunging neckline for a sultry touch. Crystal beaded straps and waistline trim add that perfect pop of bridal sparkle, and we love how the straps double in the back. She paired the dress with our veil, style VL3061, a dramatic cathedral-length veil edged in delicate pearls and sequins.

The two wed in the heart of Washington wine country at the scenic Prosser River Ranch in Prosser, Washington. The beautiful riverfront ranch, overlooking Horse Heaven Hills, was the perfect location for Ashley and Hank, to embrace the natural beauty of Washington State. After attending a previous wedding there, Ashley knew this was the place where she would get married. The final selling point was the stunning floral swing on the property that made for the perfect photo op for both the bride and groom and their guests.

There were so many special moments that it’s hard for Ashley to recount them all, but she shared a few. The first was when her mom helped her into her wedding dress. It was a time when she and her mom could really connect before the craziness of the wedding and getting into the dress with her mother there made Ashley feel so beautiful and happy. The next was her first look with her dad. It was then that it really hit her that she was actually getting married that day. Her favorite memory was the first look with her soon-to-be husband. Seeing Hank relieved all her nerves and worries about how the rest of the day would go because Ashley knew she was marrying her best friend, and that was the best feeling ever. She also loved their first dance because now, whenever she hears that song, she gets to relive the moment.
