Real Bride Stories

Radiant wedding day skin is something every bride wants, which is why we were so excited to see our very own designer, Madeline Gardner, get the low-down on how to get your glow on with Dr. Angela Lamb, a world-renowned dermatologist in NYC! Featured on the Today Show, Huffington Post, Elle, Glamour, and Self magazine, just to name a few, Dr. Lamb answered a few of our brides’ burning questions and now we get to share all the insider tips with you!

The Diet

A healthy diet is definitely an important step to achieving that perfect wedding skin! At least a year out, start thinking about shifting your food choices to include lots of wholesome and nutritious options. Dr. Lamb warns us though, don’t go overboard with anything too difficult to maintain. Try to steer clear of making any drastic changes as you get close to the big day. No need to set yourself up for a breakout!

The Facial

Dr. Lamb gives this one a big thumbs up, but only when the time is right! Doing anything too close to your wedding could risk an unwanted and unexpected reaction, so get your pampering done at least a month earlier.

The Stress

We all know stress is no fun, especially when it can lead to breakouts, extra shine, and oils.  When your cortisol levels go up, your skin quality can go down, so stay relaxed! Dr. Lamb recommends enjoying a yoga class, meditation, or just some good old relaxation with friends. A happy you will mean happier skin!

The Timeline

Good skin won’t happen overnight! About a year before you say your vows is the time to check in with your dermatologist and address any issues. It might mean using some topical creams or medications, but the earlier you get started the better!

Amp up your regimen a good six to eight weeks pre-wedding! Keep your products clean and simple. Even though you’ll probably have a makeup artist with you on the big day, to help them achieve that wedding day glow, invest in quality products like a hyaluronic acid that your skin responds well to and a light mattifier to keep your oils at bay.

At a week away from “I Do” Dr. Lamb says to get plenty of sleep, eat healthy, and repeat!

The Big Day

You made it! Today’s the day to drink lots of water, stay hydrated, and keep the dreaded alcohol puffiness at bay. Make sure you’ve had a trial run with your makeup artist, so you know what to expect. After that, sit back and prepare to be glowing from the inside out!
