Real Bride Stories

There’s a lot to consider when it comes to saying yes to your dream dress! Silhouette, fabric, back details, we could go on. But picking the perfect neckline definitely deserves a top spot on your list! From sultry to sophisticated, there’s a style for every bride that’ll make her feel as glowing and gorgeous as she should on her big day!

Sweetheart

Named for its shape (it looks like the top half of a heart) the sweetheart neckline is a bridal classic! Beautifully displaying the decollatagé, a sweetheart neckline can help create an exaggerated shape for brides with smaller busts or flaunt what you’ve got if you are more well endowed. If you’re looking for a bit more coverage, but love this romantic style, go for a modified sweetheart that has a less pronounced dip in the heart-like shape.

Strapless

A strapless neckline allows brides to achieve a more modern look. Another great choice for showing off your collarbones and shoulders—especially brides who are more narrow—but with a bit more coverage. Strapless styles are often paired with a sweetheart or straight neck shape. Brides who have larger busts may need more support than what I strapless gown offers. It’s no surprise to us that a strapless neckline is a popular bridal style!

Scoop

A scoop neckline is universally flattering! A gorgeous cut for any bride, the U-shape accentuates your decollatagé and helps to lengthen your neck and create an elongated silhouette. This elegant neckline offers extra support with straps and has a timeless charm to it that will last through all bridal trends!

V-neck

With a V-shaped dip in the front, a v-neckline is another style that will work great on all brides! This neckline draws your eye downwards helping to lengthen your body. V-necks come in all sizes, from wide to narrow, demure to plunging. The cut offers brides lots of versatility, and paired with straps or sleeves provides support that our bustier brides may need.

Illusion

As the name suggests, an illusion neckline has a sheer lining to create the “illusion” of exposed skin, while still providing coverage and support. An illusion neckline can go hand-in-hand with other necklines, often accompanying a plunging v-neck or demure bateau style, which is usually paired with sleeves. This dreamy style often features appliqué or embroidery that looks to be floating off the skin.

Square

A square neckline looks as the name suggests, paired with thick straps, the neckline creates an angular shape resembling a square. This chic style can be both dramatic and romantic, harkening back to a time like the renaissance with its crisp angles contrasting against the bride’s soft curves. The square shape perfectly frames the decollatagé and neck and the wide straps can help make broad shoulders appear more narrow.

Bateau

Bateau is a very demure neckline featuring a soft curve just below the collarbones and stretching out wide towards the shoulders. Because it draws the eyes outward, this shape can help to broaden narrow shoulders. This delicate neckline gives a very vintage feel but has been made popular again by people like Meghan Markle!

Halter

A halter style neckline has a tie, hook, button, or snap that wraps around the neck. This is a great option for brides who are looking to show off their shoulders, arms, or back! The halter neck style looks great on taller brides who have a more athletic build. You can feel covered, while also featuring your best assets!

Off The Shoulder

A bridal favorite for a reason, off-the-shoulder necklines give a romantic and effortless feel. Beautifully framing your face and decollatagé, this style gracefully follows the curves of your body, highlighting your shoulders and collarbones with its draping sleeves. Lovely on both women with smaller and larger busts as, unlike the strapless style, the sleeves can help provide the extra support bustier brides may need.
