This courtroom romance first began when Simonne and Trevor, both lawyers, met while representing opposing sides in a legal matter. A mutual friend then introduced them outside court, knowing they both shared a passion for professional soccer and wanted to attend the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. And while they never made it to Brazil, they continued to grow closer. After about a year of friendship, Trevor had suggested that he and Simonne go on a beach trip together, just the two of them, and this became their first official date! Since then, their lives have been filled with moments of love and friendship, and it was on Christmas Day 2018 that Trevor proposed! 

The couple had recently purchased a home together but hadn’t moved in yet, as they were doing renovations. Trevor suggested they go and exchange their Christmas gifts in their new home since it was such a significant step in their relationship. At the house, they shared a toast and a special little prayer and gave each other their gifts. Simonne was jokingly gifted an old bottle of moisturizer that she had left at Trevor’s home, but before she had time to react to the unusual gift, Trevor delivered the sweetest speech and was down on one knee proposing. Simonne was so surprised that she dropped down into his arms and, of course, said yes! 

Simonne went to Judy’s Formal and Bridal to try on gowns and was immediately taken when she was shown a picture of our Leona dress. She felt the mermaid silhouette was perfect for the self-proclaimed beach girl and loved the bold organza ruffles, but wondered if the gown would be “too wow” for her. After being reminded by her mom and maid of honor that there was no such thing as “too wow” Simonne tried on the gown and instantly fell in love! She felt so beautiful and elegant in the dress and said that it felt like her, but in an extra special way! 

Simonne looked stunning in our Leona gown, a dramatic mermaid full of flair! The fitted bodice featured a romantic sweetheart neckline and is covered in beaded, embroidered appliqués. This leads to a fabulous flounced organza skirt, that brings all the drama, and delicate covered buttons that add a feminine touch! Simonne also added off-the-shoulder sleeves to her gown.

The bride and groom had a totally tropical wedding in Trinidad and Tobago, where they both are from! They held their ceremony at The Church of Assumption, a place with a lot of family history as both had family members get married there. After the traditional ceremony, Simonne and Trevor had their reception at The Anchorage, located on the scenic Caribbean waterfront. Though the couple got married during the rainy season, they were able to bring the outdoors in with the location’s glass-enclosed room that they had decorated to feel like a romantic night under the stars! 

There so many wonderful moments from their wedding day, but one that stands out was Simonne walking down the aisle. She thought she would be in tears the whole way down, but seeing Trevor waiting for her at the altar brought the biggest smile to her face as she walked to him with her father! Also, their reception entrance song was a classical piece, which is also the anthem of the UEFA Champions League to incorporate their love of soccer that helped bring them together. Simonne’s favorite moment was when Trevor gave his speech, she still blushes thinking about it to this day! On their wedding day, the couple really felt the love and support of their family and friends in every moment. Those feelings of togetherness not only as a couple but as one big family were very special!
