Morilee Featured Bride: Michelle

A successful swipe led to an everlasting romance for Michelle and Alex! He was her first match, and after messaging back and forth they realized they had so many unique things in common. They’re both Jewish, speak Russian, and their parents actually grew up in the same town in Uzbekistan. Michelle and Alex were so excited about this connection that they decided to meet for dinner that night! She says that it was perfect and they continued to go on dates every night that week. Despite the strong feelings they instantly had for each other, it was bad timing for both of them—so they decided to remain friends. 6 months later and Alex and Michelle still felt that spark! Michelle tells us that the friendship provided them with a level of comfort and communication that some couples don’t feel until later in the relationship. They decided to give a relationship another chance and went on their second “first date”—and only 3 months later moved in together!

On Alex’s 29th birthday, he made a big ordeal of inviting all of his friends and family to a Russian restaurant. He also made it a point to make sure Michelle found the most perfect dress for the occasion! While she thought it was a bit odd, she didn’t think too much about it. Michelle tells us a tradition at Russian restaurants—when celebrating a birthday—is to bring your whole party on stage, sing happy birthday, and take a group photo. After they all sang at him, Alex grabbed the microphone to say some words when he got down on one knee. He had a whole speech prepared, but at that moment his mind went blank. The only thing he can do is curse into the mic and ask Michelle to marry him. Of course, she said yes!

Michelle went dress shopping with her mom, sisters, and best friend at Amazing Brides Couture. She admits that she didn’t expect to find her dream dress so quickly. Our Pacifica gown was the second one she tried on and as soon as she saw herself in it, she knew it was the one! It was nothing the like gowns she envisioned herself in but was everything she wanted; elegance, timelessness, and simplicity!

Michelle looked stunning in our Pacifica gown in a delicate Peau de Soie, soft ball gown! A classic v-neckline with a net insert leads to a box-pleated skirt featuring a fun twist, pockets! This elegant gown wows with its open, sheer net back, and traditional buttons add to the timeless beauty.

Like many couples nowadays, their wedding plans changed due to Covid-19. Originally supposed to marry in New York City in June, but instead of canceling their dream wedding, they adjusted. With just one month to plan, Alex and Michelle had their wedding in Alex’s mom’s backyard. She had a big beautiful space that was perfect for both the ceremony and reception. Wanting the memories to be as beautiful as they imagined the couple had their photos taken at Cairnwood Estate in Bryn Athyn, PA.

While there were so many beautiful and memorable moments, one that sticks out to Michelle was their vows to each other and the speeches our friends and family gave were just breathtaking There was so much love in the air. She had never seen two families come together so seamlessly. Part of Jewish tradition is to dance the horah and the couple will be lifted in chairs while the guests circle around them. Michelle tells us the look of terror in Alex’s eyes as they were being lifted in the air was something she would never forget. Though this wasn’t the wedding the couple planned, they wouldn’t have it any other way!
